v7ndotcom elursrebmem - Webguerilla Ruleset
OK if you haven't been keeping up to speed with the v7ndotcom elursrebmem SEO contest, then you are probably not in the SEO industry because one way or another, everyone has been talking about it.
The main talking point is not the contest itself - well not exactly - it's more the drama that has risen from the contest, particularly driven from some (what I will politely call) banter between John Scott of v7n.com and Greg Boser (aka Webguerilla). It's all kinda gotten outta hand a little IMO, but nonetheless the result has been that Greg has offered up a prize based on the same keyphrase (v7ndotcom elursrebmem) but based on a slightly different ruleset. On top of this, Greg has been joined by Oilman (aka Todd Friesen) and Mike Grehan, with all 3 offering $1,000 to first place.
Rule 1
You can't talk about v7ndotcom elursrebmem....OK, was that even funny the first time I did it? Probably not. Sorry.
Rule 2
You can't link to v7n.com (not entirely sure if this means that the page can't link to v7n or the site can't...). ADDED - see the update for Mon 16th Jan, below.
Rule 3
You have to post a link to Matt Cutts blog without using the www subdomain prefix (this is a jibe at Google's inability to deal with issues surrounding www vs non-www - Matt seems to have taken it well - I suspect a man in his line of work needs a sense of humour though - let's face it, we don't make his job easy!).
The Prizes
Greg, Todd and Mike have offered up $1,000 each to the site that ranks in the top spot (dates and other criteria are the same as the v7n ruleset).

UPDATE Mon 16th Jan - Greg has updated his blog to confirm that people can win both pots of money by using the non-link method from the v7n ruleset and following the rules (above).
